Overview
Hydrotest work needs access at specific points for a defined window. We arrange scaffolding around those access points and coordinate erection and dismantling with the test schedule.
What hydrotest access involves
Hydrotest scaffolding gives safe standing access to the points that a pressure test depends on: flanges and joints to be made up and watched, valves, vents and drains, blinds, instrument tappings and the weld locations being inspected on piping, vessels and equipment.
Platforms are placed at working height for each access point rather than at one general level, and the arrangement is erected before the test window opens and removed once the system is signed off.
When it is needed
It is needed on pre-commissioning and maintenance work in the Eastern Province where piping or vessels must be filled, pressurised, held and inspected: plant shutdowns and turnarounds, tie-ins, spool replacements and repaired or newly installed lines.
Because these windows are short and fixed, the scaffolding programme is built around the test schedule and the site's permit and access arrangements rather than the other way round.
Safety and quality notes
A pressurised system needs clear escape routes and platforms placed clear of the line of a joint, with decking kept free of tools, hoses and material. Access should not oblige anyone to stand where a release would reach them.
Work follows the site owner's permits, isolations and safety rules. The scaffolding is inspected before use, and changes during the shutdown are made by the scaffolding crew, not by the test team on the spot.
